Hello and welcome to my website. Do take off your shoes and make yourself at home. I’m Dave Schilling, a contributing writer for LA Times Image Magazine. Recently, I read the 2011 book “How To Be a Man: A Guide To Style and Behavior For The Modern Gentleman” by legendary culture writer (and dead person) Glenn O’Brien and found some things that are in desperate need of an update. Being a man in 2023 is confusing. I am many things, but I am not confusing. Gorgeous, yes. Confusing? No.

Here’s a few of my favorite things I’ve ever written, so you know what you’re getting into here:

Grantland, Disposable TV: ‘My Cat From Hell’ and Our Obsession With the Perfect Pet

The Guardian, The black guy who can't float: why I finally (almost) learned to swim

Bleacher Report, 70 Hours in Hell at the Mayweather/McGregor Fight in Vegas

The Guardian, 2015 Press Release

Unlike my LA Times column, there’s no pesky editors fixing my comma splices or editing out my jokes about masturbation. Lucky you!
